MaxJet Files for Bankruptcy Protection - Stops Flying
Sad news today from discount Business Class airline MaxJet that they
have filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations, effective immediately.
If you are booked on MaxJet, perhaps for summer travel, there are
options available. SilverJet has said they will rebook you onto
their flights at the same price. For closer-in travel, MaxJet may
have made alternate arrangements for you already, including on Eos
Airline (also all-premium).
You can read the announcement at http://www.maxjet.com, and a further
evaluation of the state of these business-class carriers can be found
at http://blogs.usatoday.com/sky/2007/12/all-business-cl.html.
I hope this isn't the beginning of the death knell for these
alternative carriers, as they provide a "reality check" to the majors
on service and pricing. Hopefully, the failure of this carrier will
allow the remaining options to grow stronger.
