Update on New Battery Rule

As things shake out and more information is released, it appears more and more that most consumer batteries (the type found in digital cameras up through DSLRs, phones, iPods and the like) are going to be just fine under the new provisions. Whether or not TSA officials all get the same word about that is another matter.

I still recommend you keep these batteries in your carry ons, in plastic bags, and be ready to remind the officials if questioned that each are under the 8 gram exclusion which exempts them.

I'll be traveling on January 6, and will report back if I have any difficulty, as I'll be carrying several extra lithium batteries with me for my camera. Watch here for further updates!
