Name That Ship!

Have you longed to be involved in the inauguration of a new ship? How about being there as the person who thought up the name? Pretty impressive! Add to that the fact that the ships you'll be naming will be the largest cruise ships on the planet, the new Royal Caribbean Genesis ships, and you have a pretty impressive honor!

Royal Caribbean has announced that the honor of naming their two new ships, code named Genesis I and II, will be given to the winner of a contest they're holding in conjunction with USA Today. These 222,000 ton, 5,400 passenger ships are set to debut in 2009 and 2010, and need the right name. Entries are being accepted at www.namethatship.usatoday.com until February 29, 2008.

Prizes are just as big as the ships they're associated with. The winners, in addition to attending the naming ceremonies and taking a 7-night sailing on "their" ship in a Junior Suite (air included), will also be flown to the naming ceremony and 2-night inaugural cruise of the Independence of the Seas in Southampton in April, 2008. Even the finalists have a pretty good prize package!

So if you've thought of the perfect "of the Seas" name, send it right in! However, I'm sure "Chicken of the Seas" has already been entered.
